All Tournament Teams have been announced for 2009. MVP for A, B and C were Kenny Tomeno (Thomas), Deven Alves (Canandaigua) and, for the second year in a row, Matt Osgood (Penn Yan).

Webster Schroeder beat visiting Amherst of Section 6 (Buffalo), 9-3 in an early afternoon game in Webster. Amherst (10-3) is currently ranked 9th on the NYS Class B poll. Midlakes won their game with Pal-Mac.

Canandaigua beat Penn Yan 12-11, Aquinas beat Livonia 9-8 and Rush-Henrietta beat Churchville-Chili 9-8 and each game was won in overtime. The others winning games today were Penfield, Geneva, Thunder, Batavia, Thomas, Irondequoit, Schroeder, Brockport, Mynderse, Hilton, Bloomfield-Honeoye, McQuaid Jesuit and Brighton.

Penfield used three late fourth quarter goals to defeat Pittsford 7-6. Rush-Henrietta won a 7-6 victory over visiting Hilton and McQuaid Jesuit won a GRALL game with their 8-7 win over Livonia.

# 2059  Penn Yan: 2009 Preview

Penn Yan ended their league season third in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (10-7 overall). Seeded first in the Class C tournament, the Mustangs defeated Livonia 17-5 to become the Section Five Class C Champions. The Mustangs lost to Corning East (Section 4) in the second round of the state tournament 9-5. It was the eleventh consecutive Sectional title for Penn Yan.

# 2023  Class/Division Changes Make Things Interesting

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ.

Both Penfield and Canandaigua remain undefeated with games that were easily won today. Canandaigua beat Mynderse 21-4 and Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta 20-7. Other winners included Brockport, HFL, Churchville, Thomas, Canandaigua and Penn Yan.

Fairport avenged their loss to Canandaigua earlier in the week with a 10-7 win over Penn Yan, Geneva made a dramatic statement in Class B as they defeated Aquinas 14-5 while Gates Chili picked up a 10-6 win over Victor and Hilton beat Spencerport 15-7. Rush-Henrietta was a 18-9 winner over visiting Livonia.

On a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the low 60s, eleven games were were placed in Section Five. The winners included Gates Chili, Penn Yan, Irondequoit, Livonia, and Mynderse. Schroeder took C-C (8-6), Fairport was the winner over Thomas (12-8), CA beat Geneva (12-7), Midlakes beat Pal-Mac by one and McQuaid Jesuit defeated Aquinas 7-6 in overtime.

Penfield, Schroeder and Fairport have now proved the idea that parity is alive and well in the Monroe County Class A teams. In other close games today, Brockport beat Athena/Odyssey by one goal as did Aquinas in their game with McQuaid Jesuit.

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2009 Senior All Star Game selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Saturday, July 11th at Victor High School. The boys' game will be at 7:00 PM and will be preceded by the Girls' game at 5:00 PM.
